The Legacy of Michael and Christine Foulger

The Michael and Christine Charitable Trust was established under the terms of the will of Michael Foulger who died on the 4th October 2015. The Trust legally came into being on the 14th December 2015 when the Trust Deed was signed and witnessed at the Parish Council Meeting that evening.

The relevant clauses of the will are:

1. In accordance with the last Will and Testament of Michael Lawrence Foulger dated 7th August 2012 and proven on 11th November 2015, the objects of the charity (‘the objects’) are:

To improve the conditions of life for the parishioners of the civil and ecclesiastical Parishes of Chelveston-cum-Caldecott without distinction of sex sexual orientation race or of political religious or other opinions by associating together with the said parishioners local authorities voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to advance well being and education by supporting facilities and projects which promote spiritual and social welfare and recreational leisure time occupation.

2. In furtherance of these objects but not otherwise the Trustees shall have power to make grants from the Trust’s income or capital to the following beneficiary organisations in the Parishes to undertake the provision or maintenance of projects and facilities within the Parishes:

a. Chelveston-cum-Caldecott Parish Council

b. The Parochial Church Council of St John the Baptist Church Chelveston-cum-Caldecott

c. Chelveston-cum-Caldecott Women’s Institute (no longer active).

d. The Educational Foundation of Bailey and Levett CIO (formerly the Educational Foundation of Abigail Bailey and Ann Levett) in its capacity as the Trustee of Chelveston Village Hall

3. In the event that the Civil and Ecclesiastical Parishes are no longer co-terminus then the Trustees shall have absolute discretion in determining the geographic boundaries of the Trust’s remit.
